The Greek Islands are a dream destination on every bucket list. When I recently visited Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, I was utterly dazzled - it doesn’t just have charming towns, immaculate beaches, and some of the best food in Greece, Crete also has an extraordinary World War II history. I took an ANZAC tour with Specialty Tours Greece to witness firsthand what life would have been like for soldiers defending the island during the climactic WWII Battle of Crete.
